Ontario tomatoes come in all shapes, sizes and varieties, but the one thing they have in common is being absolutely delicious! Take advantage of the tomato harvest season with this scrumptious salad recipe.

Flavour Harvest

Tomato Plum, Burrata, Cilantro and Chile Salad

Ingredients

1 small red onion
650g cherry tomatoes
6 plums, santa rosa or black plums
1 fresno chile
1 handful cilantro leaves
225g balls burrata
120ml red wine vin
½ tsp honey

Directions

Very thinly slice 1 red onion on a mandolin. Put it in a small bowl, add ½ cup (120 ml) red wine vinegar, a touch of honey, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Let sit while you finish prepping.
Cut 2 pints (560 g) cherry tomatoes in half, and thinly slice 6 plums. Thinly slice 1 chile on the mandolin.
On a large serving platter, arrange the tomatoes and plums. Scatter the onions and most of their liquid onto the platter, but don't drown everything!
Tear 2 balls burrata into bite-sized pieces and arrange over the platter—each person should be able to get a nice chunk without fussing or making a mess. Sprinkle with the chile and warn people who are sensitive to heat that it's a little bit spicy. Drizzle with oil, sprinkle with 1 handful cilantro, and season with salt and pepper.
